Israel has destroyed Yemen’s Houthi-controlled Sanaa International Airport in an airstrike.

 

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the strike was carried out on Tuesday.

 

The Times of Israel reported that the strike was carried out in response to repeated missile and drone attacks on Israel.

 

A ballistic missile fired by the Houthis hit the area around Ben Gurion International Airport, Israel’s main airport, on Sunday, injuring several people.

 

The IDF said in a statement that the airport in the Yemeni capital is now “completely disabled” after the Israeli airstrike.

 

The IDF said the airport was used by the Houthis “to transfer weapons and personnel and is regularly operated by the Houthi government for terrorist purposes.”

 

Before the attack on the airport, the IDF issued a warning to civilians in Sanaa.

 

The IDF said it targeted several power plants used by the Houthis near Sanaa. In addition, an attack was carried out targeting a cement factory north of the capital, which was used for infrastructure and tunnel construction.
